- Our Core Satellite & Space index was down -0.5% in August, modestly outperforming the S&P 500 which saw a loss of -1.8% and outperforming the MSCI Global (ex.-U.S.) index which saw a loss of -4.8%.
- Announced M&A transaction volumes increased greatly during the month as compared to July. In August, there were ten minority VC/PE equity financings, seven M&A transactions, and two public equity financings.
- Telesat announced that its Lightspeed LEO constellation is now funded through launch of commercial service (156 satellites), selecting MDA as prime and planning for a target of 198 satellites with launch starting mid ‘26.
- The Eutelsat/OneWeb merger is nearing completion, with Eutelsat scheduling a shareholder vote for late September following recent receipt of the requisite regulatory approvals.
- Also in August, Viasat reported an anomaly with the Inmarsat-6 F2 satellite. F2 suffered an anomaly with its power subsystem during its orbit raising phase after its launch about six months ago.
