A mixed March. Our Core space index (+3%) outperformed the market (S&P 500; -5%) in March after lagging in Jan and Feb. Our Frontier index (-9%) underperformed for the third straight month on the flight to quality.
Earth observation was the best-performing sector (+7%), led by outsized gains from Satellogic (+81%), Spire (+42%), and BlackSky (+33%) on sovereign contract awards. All four international vendors (Contec, ISI, Satrec, Synspective) declined in March.
Ground hardware suffered the largest decline (-16%), with double-digit losses for Comtech (-34%), Kratos (-18%), and Intellian (-14%) on lower 2026 revenue guidance (Comtech, Intellian).
The Space Hardware category remains especially volatile, with 10 of 15 stocks moving by double digits (up or down) in the month. Firefly was the best-performer (+48%) on a successful return to flight, while iSpace declined 31% following the announcement of a CLPS mission delay.
