Covering Space Sector Market Trends & Indices for August 2026, including:
Frontier charges ahead. While our Core index was flat MoM and major averages advanced 1-3%, our Frontier index charged ahead (up 21%), with four stocks gaining 30%+, led by Voyager (+37%). European smallsat builders AAC Clyde and Gomspace lost ground MoM and are flatish to down on a YTD basis vs. the overall sector gain of 25%.
Gov't Space Services was the surprise best-performer in August (up 22%) but is still the laggard on a y/y basis (down 6%).
Space Hardware was up 12% in August and 61% y/y, outperforming all other space sectors. The full moon was the winning strategy, with three of the top four performers (Voyager, Intuitive Machines, Redwire) leading in lunar cred.
Satcom operators declined for the third straight month (down 1%). With only Telesat and Space42 managing double digit gains. 7 of 10 stocks were flat-to-down in August, with Viasat (-13%) and SES (-14%) as the boat anchors.
