Record VC funding of $3.1B smashed the previous record of $2.1B (Aug’20) by more than 50%. YTD funding is up more than $10B from $4.0B to $14.6B.
Space stocks slumped in September, with our Core index down 1% and Frontier stocks down 7% vs. flat S&P 500 performance and the Russell’s 5% decline.
Satcom was the best performing sector (+1%), with 5 of 10 stocks in positive territory. Space42 (+21%) and Viasat (+5%) gained on Equatys momentum, while European GEO operators (Eutelsat, Ovzon, Eutelsat) experienced low-to-mid teens declines.
A&D was the worst performing sector (down 9%), followed by Space Hardware at -8%. AddValue (-22%) was the worst performer, but remains the best performer y/y (up >4x).
EO stocks declined 2%, dragged down by Planet and Spire, both of which suffered mid-teens declines. Satellogic was the sector’s best performer, up 14% in the quarter and nearly 3x y/y .
